So with the NFL playoffs coming to fruition I was reminiscing on how fun going to games were, you know before Covid and the threat of getting it. I was thinking about all of the good things, but there were a lot of bad things about it too. Getting food, never finding good parking unless of course you wanted to pay basically the price of a ticket, and even just getting into the stadium was tough, cause the security guards directed everyone to one gate, and a lot of the time that gate was on the opposite end of your seat and that is just annoying. I have a feeling that they look at your ticket and then tell you the gate to make you walk the furthest. Anyway I have thought about this a lot, and as a part of a YEA(Young entrepreneurs academy) I decided to work on a business model, for an app that solves a lot of these issues. The app is called BallParkk, and it is an app that allows homeowners that are close to a stadium/venue to put up their driveway for rent. This is a quick and easy way for homeowners to get some cash, and it is helpful for the people going to the stadium. You may be wondering how feasible this actually is because many people wouldn’t like to pay, and especially not too much for a parking spot. But think about this. At a sporting stadium you pay $10 for a corn dog that you can buy at another place for $2. You are paying 8 extra dollars for no real reason. The games aren't that long so you can stay hungry but you choose to pay those extra dollars for easy access and so you are more comfortable and have a fun experience. Also parking spots at the official stadium parking lots are quite expensive. With this app, you can be more comfortable about where you park. You will know if it is well lit, with cameras and 24 hours surveillance, and all of those aspects will help you calm yourself down about it. This will make you more likely to spend a few extra dollars if you need to. After all nothing comes before safety. I believe that a few extra dollars are worth it for overall safety.
I also have plans to expand the idea into a platform that provides other solutions like wait times at concession stands, and gates, closest bathroom and its wait times. This program also has a built in feature which there is food delivery from a concession stand directly to the seat. A customer will not want to have 3 separate apps with all of these items, but as my app expands, it will become a platform to incorporate all these other sections.
What do you all think? Any other pain points you faced in your event going experience. Feel free to put it in the comments..
